Weeks of June 15th to June 29th


Utility Work – Advance work for the Polaris Stormwater Improvement Project

NiCor has completed relocation work of six- and eight-inch gas service mains, and in some cases replaced two-inch private gas services to homes on Kilpatrick and 105th.


This work is required as these utilities conflict with the proposed sewer improvements and replacing the gas services is needed as some of these service lines are at the end of their useful life, and due to the nature of the work is safer to replace currently.


Concrete restoration has started, replacing sidewalks and curbs on Kilpatrick. Some of these sidewalks will be closed during excavation, grading, and concrete placements.


What you can expect:

This work will primarily be in the parkways and street, but from time to time some work may fall into the fronts of yards. Dirt, dust, noise, and minor debris will be observed and sometimes encountered. We will do our best to always keep site clean and safe. Driveways and sidewalks may be blocked from time to time during the progression of the work during work hours. Crews will make every effort to get you in and out of your driveways when needed, and driveways will always be accessible and open during off hours and weekends.


The utility company is going to restore the project. Landscaping, grass, trees, sidewalks, driveways and private property sprinklers will be replaced to original condition. Please note that restoration will occur when underground work, and all concrete and paving work is completed, possibly late summer August.

Important Notice- Dust and Blowing winds

As summer approaches and the temperatures begin to rise, dust and blowing debris will become noticeable and will be an inconvenience to the homeowners and businesses surrounding the Polaris Park project. Maintaining and controlling dust will be a monumental task and unfortunately there aren’t any cost-effective solutions to this problem. The area is just too large to provide effective water control. Due to the nature of the clay soils, it is difficult maintain moisture and prevent it from drying and then blowing in the wind.


The construction team, along with the Village, is looking at speeding up the landscape efforts — especially on the side slopes of the park — which might help contain some of the wind blowing debris and dust. We are also considering additional options, which have significant costs associated. Planting temporary seed is not an option, due to the cost of removing said grasses, and the potential of that being an invasive seed that will interfere with the proposed athletic seed for field grasses. The project is being watered twice daily at 6 am and 2-3 pm.



STATUS Update, Polaris Park is 75% excavated, and ahead of schedule


Crews will soon begin installing a 48-inch diameter pipe along 105th Street, east of Kilpatrick Avenue. Streets will be closed to public traffic, but open to those who live on the block. This work will be disruptive and will be extensive. It is our intention to work one block at a time, with work lasting about one week if it progresses as anticipated. Crews will make every effort to get you in and out of your driveways when needed, and driveways will always be accessible and open during off hours and weekends.


Crews and staff are extremely approachable and willing to assist with issues like delivery needs, driveway access or any other concerns you may have.


Work hours are 7am to 4:30 pm. Moving your vehicles to side streets prior to work starting will help crews be efficient, stay on schedule, and minimize your inconvenience.


Large diameter pipe installation will cause water disruptions on 105th as pipe progresses down the street. Fliers will be posted on doors of homes 48 hours prior to outage for anticipated water disruptions.


Work in Polaris Park will continue, and the following activities will be occurring daily: Earth excavation and trucking, with underdrain sewer installations for the foreseeable future.
