Polaris Sewer Improvement Project

Weeks of October 16 to October 31st

Pavement markings will be placed next week. Center line yellow ship dashes will be placed on Kilpatrick 107th to 105th, and on 105th from Kilpatrick to Kedvale. Pavement markings for crosswalks will also be placed. Please be mindful that this might be done in stages as epoxy paints dry.

Important Notice- Landscaping and Parkway Restoration

Landscaping and parkway restoration activities are underway and include the installation of seed and hay blankets throughout the project area. Due to the size of the project, sod was not a cost-effective option and was therefore not included as part of the restoration plan. The work has started and will continue to the completion date of October 23, 2026. Work began on Kilpatrick Avenue between 107th Street moving north up to 105th Street and will continue along 105th Street as sewer and concrete improvements are completed.

Residents may notice that some restoration activities overlap with ongoing Nicor utility work. The Village and its representatives evaluate each restoration area individually to determine the appropriate level of restoration, and these determinations may be adjusted as conditions change. As part of the contract, the contractor will provide three initial waterings following seeding and blanket installation. After that time, homeowners may need to provide additional watering and maintenance to help establish healthy vegetation.

Be aware that hay blankets are interwoven with plastic mesh that is biodegradable but in some cases is slow to degrade. In some cases, it will be up to the homeowners to remove woven plastic as needed. The Village and landscaping contractors are not required to remove this plastic, and it would be helpful for homeowners to remove.

We understand that some areas will be slow to grow grass this late in the year and final walk throughs will be performed in early spring to determine if any grass needs to be replaced.

STATUS Update, Polaris Park is 100% excavated and 90% landscaped, Polaris Park Ballfields are 95% complete, Sewer Work on 105th is 100% complete, Concrete restoration is 100% complete, Paving is 100% complete and Landscape Restoration is 85% complete.

Please be aware the Polaris Park will remain closed until late spring once school officials and village officials have approved grass establishments are ready for sports activities.

All work including landscaping is scheduled to be completed at the end of October with minor work at the end of November. The Polaris ball fields are scheduled to open in the spring of 2027 but is dependent on grass establishments and will be determined by the School District, Village officials and the construction team.

As the project nears its completion, we want to say thank you to the residents and the Village for their patience and understanding during the progress of this project. The project was completed ahead of schedule, under budget and most importantly will serve this community for many decades preventing flood events to its residents.
