Utility Work – Advance work for the Polaris Stormwater Improvement Project
NiCor has completed relocation work of six- and eight-inch gas service mains, and in some cases replaced two-inch private gas services to homes on Kilpatrick and 105th.
NiCor will be resuming a sidewalk restoration and landscaping the third week of September.
What you can expect:
This work will primarily be in the parkways and street, but from time to time some work may fall into the fronts of yards. Dirt, dust, noise, and minor debris will be observed and sometimes encountered. We will do our best to always keep site clean and safe. Driveways and sidewalks may be blocked from time to time during the progression of the work during work hours. Crews will make every effort to get you in and out of your driveways when needed, and driveways will always be accessible and open during off hours and weekends.

Important Notice- Landscaping and Parkway Restoration
Landscaping and parkway restoration activities are underway and include the installation of seed and hay blankets throughout the project area. Due to the size of the project, sod was not a cost-effective option and was therefore not included as part of the restoration plan. Restoration work is expected to continue throughout the project's completion date of October 23, 2026. Work began on Kilpatrick Avenue between 107th Street and 105th Street and will continue along 105th Street as sewer and concrete improvements are completed.
Residents may notice that some restoration activities overlap with ongoing Nicor utility work. The Village and its representatives evaluate each restoration area individually to determine the appropriate level of restoration, and these determinations may be adjusted as conditions change. As part of the contract, the contractor will provide three initial waterings following seeding and blanket installation. After that time, homeowners may need to provide additional watering and maintenance to help establish healthy vegetation.

STATUS Update, Polaris Park is 95% excavated, and is on schedule Polaris Park Ballfields are 75% complete, Sewer Work on 105th is 90% complete, Concrete restoration is 65% complete, and Landscape Restoration is 25% complete.
Crews have begun installing a 48-inch diameter pipe on 105th Street from Kostner moving east. Streets will be closed to public traffic, but open to those who live on the block. This work will be disruptive and will be extensive. It is our intention to work one block at a time, with work lasting about one week if it progresses as anticipated. Crews will make every effort to get you in and out of your driveways when needed, and driveways will always be accessible and open during off hours and weekends. Sewer work is nearly complete and should be done around September 15th. Please expect delays in traffic movements on 105th at Kedvale. Traffic to St. Catherine's school will be maintained for school drop off and pickups.
As sewer work progresses, some sidewalks, curbs and driveway aprons are expected to be removed and replaced on 105th Street as underground work is completed.
Crews and staff are extremely approachable and willing to assist with issues like delivery needs, driveway access or any other concerns you may have.
Work hours are 7am to 4:30 pm. Moving your vehicles to side streets prior to work starting will help crews be efficient, stay on schedule, and minimize your inconvenience.
Paving has started and some areas have been completed. Please be aware that prime coats (liquid asphalt) will be placed and should be avoided by using other streets if possible. Signs reading (Fresh oil) will be placed.
Large diameter pipe installation will cause water disruptions on 105th as pipe progresses down the street. Fliers will be posted on doors of homes 48 hours prior to outage for anticipated water disruptions.
Work in Polaris Park will continue, and the following activities will be occurring daily: Earth excavation and trucking, with underdrain sewer installations for the foreseeable future. Baseball and softball fields have begun to take shape with special field mixes for the diamond fields installed on two fields.
Please be aware that the Polaris Park will remain closed until late spring once school officials and village officials have approved grass establishments are ready for sports activities.
All work including landscaping is scheduled to be completed at the end of October with minor work at the end of November. The Polaris ball fields are scheduled to open in the spring of 2027 but is dependent on grass establishments and will be determined by the School District, Village officials and the construction team.
